Real Madrid 'set their sights on Neymar'

Real Madrid will pursue a move for Paris Saint-Germain attacker Neymar at the end of the season, according to a report.

Real Madrid will reportedly pursue a move for Paris Saint-Germain attacker Neymar at the end of the season.

Madrid did not directly replace Cristiano Ronaldo in last summer's transfer window, but a new high-profile forward is expected to arrive at the Bernabeu ahead of the 2019-2020 campaign.

Chelsea's Eden Hazard has been strongly linked with a switch to the Spanish capital, but according to The Times, Los Blancos have 'set their sights' on signing Neymar in what would be a world-record deal.

Barcelona president Josep Maria Bartomeu recently conceded that his club would find it 'impossible' to re-sign Neymar, but Manchester United are reportedly preparing a £262m bid for the 27-year-old.

Neymar, who joined PSG from Barcelona in the summer of 2017, has scored 48 times in 53 appearances for his French club, but is currently on the sidelines with a foot problem.

Madrid are in the semi-finals of the Copa del Rey and last-16 stage of the Champions League, but currently sit nine points off La Liga leaders Barcelona following their 2-1 home defeat to Girona.
