Paris Saint-Germain sporting director Leonardo is confident that Kylian Mbappe will sign a new deal with the French giants despite firm interest from Real Madrid.

The France international's current contract in Paris is due to expire next June, and Real Madrid are expected to return for his services in 2022, having missed out on a deal during the recent transfer window.

As it stands, the World Cup winner will be free to enter into talks with Los Blancos over a pre-contract in January, but Leonardo is confident that the 22-year-old will remain in the French capital.

"I don't see Mbappe leaving at the end of this season. Nobody is thinking about the future of Paris Saint-Germain without Kylian," Leonardo told Canal Plus.

"Kylian sort of represents the difference between the superficial and the deep. Kylian's relationship with Paris Saint-Germain is deep. That's why we don't think about anything else.

"Kylian represents many things. Not only because he is French or one of the best players in the world. He has a way of being that we like and one that everyone likes."

Mbappe has been in impressive form for Mauricio Pochettino's side at the start of the 2021-22 campaign, scoring four times and providing two assists in five Ligue 1 appearances. body check tags ::
