Manchester City will reportedly secure Raheem Sterling's long-term future at the club with a contract that would make him the highest earner in the club's history.

The forward, who moved to the Etihad in 2015, has emerged as one of world football's best players under Pep Guardiola and England manager Gareth Southgate.

Reports have suggested that Sterling was holding off on signing a new deal until there was clarification over Guardiola's future at the club.

According to Metro, however, City are convinced that the Englishman will pen a new deal with the Premier League champions - one that would make him the club's highest ever earner.

The 24-year-old currently receives £300,000 a week, but the new deal will reportedly see Sterling earn £380,000 a week - on par with Manchester United's David de Gea.

Sterling, valued at around £200m, has netted 14 goals in all competitions so far this season.
