Lewis Allan believes the future is bright at Hibernian

Allan started Saturday's game against Livingston.

Lewis Allan insists there are plenty of young Hibernian players ready to take their chance in the first team.

Allan made his first Easter Road start on Saturday in the 1-1 draw with Livingston after Neil Lennon dropped Florian Kamberi to the bench alongside Jamie Maclaren.

Lennon went on to express his frustration with his two experienced strikers and hinted he could look to move them on in January if they do not improve.

But the Hibs head coach was happy with Allan's display after bringing him and Sean Mackie off the bench in the victory over Celtic the previous weekend.

Allan made his Hibs debut four years ago and the 22-year-old has served his apprenticeship on loan spells with Dunfermline, Forfar, Livingston and Edinburgh City.

Now he is looking to make his mark in green and white and he feels there are others in the same boat.

"It was my first start at Easter Road and it's been a long time since my debut," Allan told Hibs TV. "It's obviously brilliant.

"It was great for Sean as well. He (Lennon) has shown faith in us so hopefully we can go and repay him. We just want to play.

"There's loads of boys that will be chapping the door wanting a chance as well. There's loads of injuries and suspensions so there are chances there and we have got to try and take them."

Allan is now looking to keep his place for the Boxing Day trip to face Rangers at Ibrox.

"It's a massive game again on Wednesday, they are coming thick and fast," he said.

"We have loads of injuries and suspensions so hopefully I will get a chance there. They are the games you want to play in, so fingers crossed."
