Arsenal reduced the gap at the top of the Women’s Super League to one point as they welcomed their fans back with a dominant 3-0 win over Birmingham.

Striker Kim Little missed a penalty but the Gunners eventually got a breakthrough in the 57th minute through Caitlin Foord’s header.

Jill Roord then struck a second five minutes later before Little made no mistake with her second spot-kick in the 87th minute.

The victory at Meadow Park – with fans in attendance for the first time this season – left the Gunners a point behind Manchester United.

Chelsea are two points further back with a game in hand after Sam Kerr’s hat-trick helped them to a 3-2 win over West Ham.

Fran Kirby set up two of Kerr’s triple, with the first coming after 15 minutes.

Rachel Daly equalised early in the second half but Kerr added goals in the 55th and 68th minutes before Magdalena Eriksson’s late own goal gave the Hammers brief hope.

Three first-half goals saw Manchester City climb above opponents Everton with a 3-0 win at Walton Hall Park.

Ellen White opened the scoring with her fourth goal in eight league matches, and Gemma Bonner headed home from a Caroline Weir cross to double City’s lead a minute later.

Janine Beckie then added a third in stoppage time and Everton had no response in the second period as City moved up to fourth in the table, five points off first place.

Alex Morgan scored her first goal in the WSL as Tottenham beat Brighton 3-1 to record their maiden victory of the season.

Kerys Harrop scored from a free-kick to give Spurs the lead, before Brighton’s Inessa Kaagman levelled from the penalty spot.

Angela Addison restored the lead in the 63rd minute before Morgan converted a penalty as Spurs secured all three points in their first game under manager Rehanne Skinner.

Elsewhere, Reading came from behind to draw 1-1 at home to Bristol City as Fara Williams cancelled out Emma Bissell’s opener.
