Manchester City reckon that the key to signing Borussia Dortmund striker Erling Braut Haaland is to win the Premier League title this season, according to a report.

Manchester City reportedly believe that they can beat Chelsea to the signing of Erling Braut Haaland by winning the Premier League title this season.

Borussia Dortmund striker Haaland has 38 goals in 39 appearances since joining from Red Bull Salzburg last year and is a player in high demand.

Real Madrid had widely been considered the favourites to land the Norway international, but they may have to delay a move because of financial reasons.

Premier League pair Man City and Chelsea have also been linked for a player thought to be valued at around the £100m mark.

The Daily Star suggests that the Citizens are increasingly confident of winning the race for the youngster's signature.

It is claimed that City reckon winning the title again this year will help get a deal over the line for Haaland, whom they are prepared to offer £400,000 a week to sign.

Pep Guardiola's men are in the market for a new striker to replace club-record signing Sergio Aguero, who has now gone a year without a Premier League goal due to various spells on the sidelines.
