Patrice Evra opens up on former Arsenal striker Thierry Henry's dislike of Gunners midfielder Granit Xhaka.

Former Arsenal striker Thierry Henry once refused to watch the Gunners in action because Granit Xhaka was wearing the captain's armband for the club, according to Patrice Evra.

Speaking after Arsenal's 1-0 home defeat to Burnley on Sunday evening, Evra made the revelation when questioned about Xhaka's red card against the Clarets, which arrived after he grappled with Ashley Westwood.

The Switzerland international has been a regular for Mikel Arteta's side this season despite some underwhelming performances, and the 28-year-old has not actually been a part of a winning Gunners side in the Premier League since the start of October.

"I will tell you a quick story. Thierry Henry one day invited me to his house to watch an Arsenal game," former Manchester United defender Evra told Sky Sports News. "He turned on the TV, the first image we saw on the screen was Xhaka leading the Arsenal team, being the captain. Thierry Henry turned off the TV.

"I said, 'What happened?'. He said, I cannot watch my team and Xhaka being the captain of my team and he turned off the screen. And we did not watch the game."

Arsenal have only picked up 13 points from their opening 12 matches of the 2020-21 Premier League season and currently sit down in 15th position in the table. body check tags ::
