Danny McGuire signs new two-year contract at Leeds Rhinos

Super League's highest ever try scorer Danny McGuire signs a new two-year contract with Leeds Rhinos.

Danny McGuire has extended his stay at Leeds Rhinos by signing a new two-year contract.

The Super League's highest ever try scorer, who has been at the club for 14 years, scored his 256th try for Leeds in the team's 50-0 victory over Hull Kingston Rovers in the Challenge Cup final last month.

"I am really pleased to have the new deal agreed," McGuire told the club's official website. "I never had any intention of going anywhere else - I'm a Leeds lad and I have played my entire career here but it is always nice to know the club sees you as part of their future too.

"We have had some incredible times over the last few years and this deal we mean I have been here for 20 years in total but it is the future that most excites me. We have got a fantastic group of young players that remind me a lot of the group of players I came through the academy with and, if I can help the team develop over the next few years, that is something I will very much enjoy."

Head coach Brian McDermott added: "Danny has been in outstanding form for us this season and been a virtual ever present throughout the campaign. He is part of a special generation of players who have influenced the history of this club and I know he still has a key part to play in our future."

The Rhinos will face Catalans Dragons in the South of France in a Super 8s clash this Saturday.
