Legendary boxing trainer Brendan Ingle, who trained four world champions, has died at the age of 77.

The Dublin native was responsible for guiding the careers of Johnny Nelson, Naseem Hamed, Junior Witter and Clinton Woods.

Ingle, a former pro fighter himself, passed away peacefully at the Royal Hallamshire Hospital on Friday morning.

Sons Dominic and John are now trainers in their own right, with former world champion Kell Brook on their books.

Based in Wincobank, Ingle was awarded an MBE in 1998 and he also has an honorary doctorate from Sheffield Hallam University.
