Everton's Premier League home match against Newcastle United has become the first in the world to host a virtual mascot.
A remote-controlled robot accompanied the first team as they left the dugout, in place of chronically-ill Toffees supporter Jack McLinden.
The 14-year-old was able to control the device, which was carried onto the pitch by Everton captain Phil Jagielka, from his home.
Norwegian company No Isolation designed the virtual mascot for children battling health problems so they can attend school "remotely".
