Ben Stokes denies 'losing control' in Bristol brawl

Ben Stokes denies 'losing control' when hitting a man outside a Bristol nightclub, but concedes that he also had "significant memory block".

England and Durham all-rounder Ben Stokes has denied that he "lost all control" in an alleged brawl outside a Bristol nightclub.

Stokes is accused of affray following the incident near Mbargo nightclub in the Clifton Triangle area of the city at the end of a night out last September.

The 27-year-old did admit that he had "significant memory block", however, as he could not recall hitting Ryan Ali, 28, who he allegedly knocked unconscious.

Stokes, who is also accused of hitting Ryan Hale 27, has previously dismissed claims that he mocked two gay men and flicked his cigarette at them.

Ali, 28, has pleaded guilty to affray at Bristol Crown Court, while Hale, 27, was acquitted of the same charge on Thursday.
