Emmanuel Eboue arrested on suspicion of arson

Former Arsenal defender Emmanuel Eboue is reportedly arrested on suspicion of arson in North London.

Former Arsenal defender Emmanuel Eboue has reportedly been arrested on suspicion of arson.

The 35-year-old has been without a club since leaving Sunderland in April 2016, having failed to make a single appearance for the Black Cats.

Concerns have since developed over his welfare following reports of financial issues, and The Mirror now claims that he has been taken to a police station in North London on suspicion of arson and malicious communications outside a home in Enfield.

"Police investigating an alleged arson at a residential address in Enfield on Saturday, 30 June, arrested a 35-year-old man on suspicion of arson and malicious communications outside the address at around 17:00hrs on Saturday, 7 July," read a statement from Met Police.

"He was taken to a north London police station where he currently remains."

Eboue made 214 appearances for Arsenal between 2004 and 2011.
