Real Madrid reportedly considered approaching Antonio Conte over the vacant managerial role at the Bernabeu earlier this year.

The club was forced to reappoint Zinedine Zidane back in March after the team suffered two deeply unsuccessful spells under Julen Lopetegui and Santiago Solari.

Conte, meanwhile, returned to management for the first time since leaving Chelsea over the summer, becoming head coach at Inter Milan.

According to Fichajes.net, Los Blancos explored the possibility of moving for the Italian boss over the summer.

However, it is claimed that the club opted against the move after captain Sergio Ramos encouraged president Florentino Perez to go with Zidane instead.

Conte has enjoyed a strong start to life back in Italy, with Inter topping the Serie A table and impressing many with their performance against Barcelona in the Camp Nou during the week.
