Real Madrid head coach Carlo Ancelotti has said that his side will head into Tuesday's Champions League last-16 first leg with Liverpool "in good shape".

Los Blancos were missing Toni Kroos, Ferland Mendy, Karim Benzema and Aurelien Tchouameni for Saturday's La Liga contest with Osasuna, which ended in a 2-0 victory for the reigning champions.

Mendy remains a long-term absentee due to a hamstring problem, but Ancelotti is expecting to have Kroos, Tchouameni and Benzema back for the clash with Liverpool next week.

Kroos and Tchouameni were both absent against Osasuna due to illness, while Benzema was rested, with the experienced striker suffering with muscular fatigue.

"We are doing well. We go into the game at Anfield in good shape and with all the confidence in the world. Tchouameni had stomach problems. Karim I think will be fine for that game and Kroos is back in training," Ancelotti told reporters after the win over Osasuna.

The Italian also said that he was "very satisfied" with his team's performance on Saturday night, with the result moving Los Blancos to within five points of division leaders Barcelona.

"It was a well-rounded game, competitive, evenly matched and well played by both teams. We are very satisfied because the team performed very well, they knew how to suffer and looked for the right moment to score. We are very satisfied," Ancelotti added.

The Real Madrid head coach also paid tribute to Vinicius Junior and Eduardo Camavinga for their performances.

"He (Vinicius) had a spectacular game, as always. It was a bit more difficult in the first half, but in the second half he was on top of his game and when his opponents get tired, he turns up the intensity," he said.

"He made a difference. He gave the assist for the first goal and troubled the goalkeeper several times. He had an outstanding game.

"He's (Camavinga) playing really well, we're delighted with him. His physical attributes are fantastic wherever we play him. He was brilliant defensively and his energy helped make the difference alongside [Federico] Valverde."

Valverde sent Real Madrid ahead in the 78th minute of the clash with Osasuna before Marco Asensio struck a second in the second minute of added time at the end of the 90.

Real Madrid will now switch their attention to the Champions League, preparing to head to Anfield for the first leg of their last-16 affair with a Liverpool side who have struggled for consistency this season.

Last season, Los Blancos beat Liverpool 1-0 in the final of the European Cup, with Vinicius scoring the only goal of the contest in the 59th minute.

Jurgen Klopp's side will enter Tuesday's clash off the back of a morale-boosting 2-0 victory over Newcastle United in the Premier League on Saturday. body check tags ::
