Dimitri Payet: Marseille have nothing to lose when they face 'home machine' PSG

PA | 5d
Marseille have won five of their last six matches.

Dimitri Payet believes Marseille have nothing to lose when they visit runaway leaders Paris St Germain in Ligue 1 on Sunday.

Marseille are on a good run, having won five of their last six matches, but they face a daunting task at the Parc des Princes.

PSG boast an impressive record of 14 wins from 14 league games at home this season, scoring 50 goals and conceding only five.

Payet is hoping his side can stretch their six-match unbeaten run, but knows it will be tough.

"We want to do well," he told the club's official website.

"A trip to Paris is special for us. It's hard to go out there. We are on a beautiful run.

"The idea is to continue or even to get a point if you can not win.

"We have nothing to lose and everything to gain. They are a home machine. They are favourites but we are going to try to make a result."

PSG boss Thomas Tuchel has called on the fans not to turn their backs on the club.

Unhappy supporters have threatened to boycott the game in response to PSG's Champions League exit to Manchester United last week.

Tuchel said at his pre-match press conference, reported by L'Equipe: "We know they are disappointed. It is not necessary to show it to us again and again.

"We need our supporters.

"If some fans do this tomorrow (Sunday), I will be sad because it is not deserved.

"In a match like that, it's absolutely important that we have an atmosphere to push us and give us confidence.

"It does not help. We understand, the most disappointed, it's us, the team and the staff."

Striker Edinson Cavani will be absent for the champions elect after missing most of training this week with an injury.

Neymar is still out with his own injury, but Dani Alves will be back after a ban.
