Surrey batsman Will Jacks hits fastest ever century during pre-season match

In the unofficial match against Lancashire, Jacks also hit six sixes in an over.

Surrey batsman Will Jacks thrashed six sixes in an over on his way to a 25-ball century in a pre-season 10-over friendly against Lancashire in Dubai.

Reportedly the fastest ever hundred in a match between two professional sides and the first ever in the T10 format, Jacks' innings, in which he finished on 105 from 30 deliveries, will not go into the official record books.

It was nevertheless an incredible display of batting from the 20-year-old, who bludgeoned eight fours and 11 sixes, six of which came in a single over off Lancashire slow left armer Stephen Parry.

Jacks went to his first 50 off only 14 balls before requiring a further 11 to reach three figures as he helped the county champions to a victory in a sprint format that is becoming increasingly popular.

He said on Surrey's Twitter account: "I just wanted to try to have fun, really, and that was it.

"I didn't even think about the 100 until I was on 98. It happened quite quickly."

West Indies' powerhouse opener Chris Gayle holds the official record for the quickest ton, reaching the landmark off 30 balls en route to 175 not out for Royal Challengers Bangalore in the Indian Premier League in April 2013.

Two years later, AB de Villiers recorded the swiftest international hundred off just 31 deliveries for South Africa against the Windies.
