Thomas Tuchel has expressed his desire for Edinson Cavani to remain at Paris Saint-Germain amid speculation of a potential move to Manchester United.

The Uruguay international, now in his seventh season at the Parc des Princes, will be out of contract at the end of this season.

Manchester United have been alerted to the striker's situation and are reportedly preparing a bid ahead of the next transfer window.

However, the PSG boss continues to view Cavani as an important member of the squad and wants the 32-year-old to remain in Paris beyond this season.

"It's too soon to speak about such things. I'm sure Edi is speaking with the club. He knows it's his club," Tuchel told reporters.

"I don't know Edi's ideas exactly at the moment. I count 100% on Edi this season. He's been missing for several weeks and the main thing for me is to push Edi on the pitch, so we've got a fit and in-form Edinson Cavani.

"He's got the most goals for the club. Edi is very important. He's in the group of five players I always speak with, to have an opinion from them on all things. He's important in the dressing room and on the pitch."

There are fears among the PSG hierarchy that, along with the Barcelona-bound Neymar, Kylian Mbappe will also look to leave the club next year.

Reports have stated that Atletico Madrid, having scored just seven goals in eight La Liga games this season, are interested in signing Cavani in January.
