Marco Asensio is reportedly set to leave Real Madrid at the end of the season after he rejected the club's latest contract offer.

Since joining Real Madrid in 2014, Asensio has gone on to make 285 competitive appearances for the club, scoring 61 goals and providing 32 assists.

The Spaniard has won multiple honours during his time with Los Blancos, including three La Liga titles and three Champions League trophies.

Despite enjoying large amounts of success at the Santiago Bernabeu, it seems that Asensio's nine-year association with the club is coming to an end.

The 27-year-old is out of contract at the end of the season, and talks have been ongoing since December about an extension.

However, according to Relevo, Asensio has made the decision to reject Real Madrid's contract offer and as a result, he will depart the club when his current deal expires in June.

The report claims that Real Madrid were prepared to offer Asensio a pay increase and a long-term contract, but the player wanted a more prominent role in the side.

Although he has made 36 La Liga appearances this term, Asensio has had to settle for 15 league starts, and it appears that he has made the decision to leave and gain regular playing time elsewhere.

Asensio has previously been linked with a move away from Real Madrid, and he is not expected to be short of contract offers.

Paris Saint-Germain have reportedly opened talks with the winger, while there is also said to be interest from the Premier League.

Arsenal, Manchester United and Liverpool have all been linked with Asensio, who could be set to play his domestic football outside of Spain for the first time in his career.

Aston Villa are also expected to be in the running after a recent report claimed that the Villans are prepared to offer the Spain international a lucrative contract.

Asensio will have two opportunities to play for Real Madrid before leaving the club, with Los Blancos set to face Sevilla and Athletic Bilbao in their final two games of the season. body check tags ::
