Manchester United are reportedly keen to move Antony on this summer but are yet to receive any interest in the Brazilian attacker, who has struggled to make his mark at Old Trafford.

Antony, 24, arrived at Man United from Ajax in the summer of 2022, with Erik ten Hag pushing to sign the attacker in his first transfer window with the 20-time English champions.

The forward arrived at Old Trafford off the back of scoring 24 goals and registering 22 assists in 82 appearances for Ajax, but he has only managed 10 goals and five assists in 77 matches for the Red Devils.

Antony showed glimpses of his talent during his first season at the club, but his performance level has dropped this season, only managing two goals and two assists in 33 appearances.

The Brazilian penned a five-year contract, with the option of a further year, upon his arrival, but he could seemingly be moved on after just two years at the club.

Man United 'looking to move Antony on'

According to journalist Rudy Galetti, Man United are working to sell Antony this summer, but the club are yet to receive any approaches for the South American.

The Red Devils are allegedly hopeful that the situation will change in the coming weeks, but they would have to be prepared to take a significant loss on the £86m that was paid for his services.

Antony provided arguably his best moment of the season in a Premier League clash on April 4, when he delivered a sensational assist for Alejandro Garnacho to score against Chelsea.

However, he was then a second-half substitute against Liverpool and was not involved at all against Bournemouth last time out, allegedly due to an injury problem.

Ten Hag has backed Antony publicly on a number of occasions, but it does appear that the Brazilian will be leaving Old Trafford during this summer's transfer window.

Should Man United cut their losses this summer?

Antony has pulled on the famous strip of Man United on 77 occasions, and a return of 10 goals is not exactly disastrous, but the club would have expected his assists total to be much higher at this stage.

Indeed, a return of five assists in 77 games is nowhere close to being good enough for a forward at a top European club, and he has found it tough to prove himself at the top level.

Ten Hag would like to keep Antony, but the Dutchman's future as head coach is far from secure, and he could be on his way out this summer, with a new manager coming in.

The decision could ultimately be taken out of the head coach's hands, though, with the club's new minority shareholder Sir Jim Ratcliffe seemingly already making a decision.

Much will depend on the price tag; if a reasonable transfer fee can be agreed, Antony should depart, but if there are no takers for a fair price, it would certainly be worth giving him another season to make his mark. body check tags ::
