Manchester United and Chelsea are reportedly interested in signing Lille striker Jonathan David in the summer transfer window.

Since joining Lille from Gent, David has racked up 55 goals and provided nine assists in 130 appearances for the French club.

The 23-year-old helped his side win the Ligue 1 title in the 2020-21 season and lift the French Super Cup in the 2021-22 campaign.

David has continued to star for Lille during the current season, registering 23 goals and four assists in 34 competitive games.

Having scored 21 of those goals in the league, David is currently the second-highest scorer in the top flight, sitting just one strike behind Paris Saint-Germain forward Kylian Mbappe.

Despite having two years left to run on his contract, David's impressive performances have led to speculation about a possible summer departure.

According to L'Equipe, Man United and Chelsea are among the clubs that are hoping to secure the Canadian's signature.

With Wout Weghorst set to return to Burnley at the end of his loan spell, the Red Devils will be looking to strengthen in the final third this summer.

They have been linked with the likes of Tottenham Hotspur's Harry Kane and Napoli's Victor Osimhen, but David also appears to be on their radar.

Although Chelsea have spent over £600m in the last two transfer windows, they are expected to sign a striker ahead of the 2023-24 season.

Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang is set to depart the club just 12 months after arriving from Barcelona, while Romelu Lukaku is likely to head back out the door when he returns from his Inter Milan loan spell.

The Blues are also the fifth-lowest scorers in the Premier League this term, highlighting the need to sign a forward that can play through the middle.

Man United and Chelsea could face further competition from Tottenham Hotspur, who are also showing an interest in David.

Tottenham's pursuit of the Canada international may depend on the future of Kane, amid speculation that the Spurs striker could leave this summer.
