Rodrygo reveals he rejected Barcelona for Real Madrid
Real Madrid attacker Rodrygo has revealed that he turned down the chance to join Barcelona in order to move to Bernabeu from Santos.
The Brazilian was regarded as one of the brightest youngsters in world football during his time at Santos, representing the club on 54 occasions, scoring 13 times and recording six assists in the process.
Real Madrid reached an agreement to sign the forward in June 2018, and he then moved to the Spanish capital one year later, signing a contract until 2025.
The 22-year-old has now made 166 appearances for Los Blancos in all competitions, scoring 38 goals and registering 32 assists in the process, winning two La Liga titles, the Copa del Rey, two Spanish Super Cups, the Champions League, the UEFA Super Cup and the Club World Cup during his time in Madrid.

Tottenham 'prioritising another centre-back signing before deadline'
Tottenham Hotspur have made signing a third new centre-back their number one priority before the end of the transfer window, according to a report.
The Lilywhites have already strengthened at the back with the captures of Ashley Phillips and Micky van de Ven, who joined from Blackburn Rovers and Wolfsburg respectively.
While 18-year-old Phillips is regarded as a prospect for the future, Van de Ven was thrown straight into the first XI for last weekend's opening Premier League draw with Brentford, partnering Cristian Romero in Ange Postecoglou's favoured 4-3-3.
However, Romero had to come off only a few minutes after breaking the deadlock at the Gtech Community Stadium due to a head injury, and the subsequent pairing of Van de Ven and Davinson Sanchez shipped two goals in quick succession.

Forest targeting defensive pair Luiz Felipe, Chalobah?
Nottingham Forest have reportedly targeted two defensive reinforcements following an opening day Premier League defeat to Arsenal.
Luiz Felipe of Real Betis and Chelsea's Trevoh Chalobah are the two names that have been linked with moves to Forest.
Steve Cooper looked in crisis with no recognised left-back available for their opener at the Emirates, but they were able to welcome back Moussa Niakhate, if only as a substitute.
A report in the Nottingham Post claims that Forest have wasted no time in lining up potential additions, but a recent £13m bid for Felipe has been rejected.

Bernardo Silva 'verbally agrees new Man City contract'
Manchester City midfielder Bernardo Silva has reportedly verbally agreed a new three-year deal with the club.
Back in 2021, City head coach Pep Guardiola memorably confessed that the Portugal international was looking for a way out of the Etihad, in spite of his standing as an integral player for the treble winners.
Silva is believed to be pining for a move closer to his homeland, but the former Monaco man has remained loyal to Man City for the past two years and is still under contract until 2025.
However, Barcelona and Paris Saint-Germain have supposedly been pushing to sign him this time around, although the French champions ended their pursuit to focus on other targets.

Bailly Man United exit 'harmed by Al-Nassr deal for Laporte'
Al-Nassr are reportedly now unlikely to sign Manchester United centre-back Eric Bailly this summer, having switched their attention to Manchester City's Aymeric Laporte.
Bailly will leave Man United before the end of the summer transfer window, with the Ivory Coast international not in the plans of Red Devils head coach Erik ten Hag moving forward.
Al-Nassr have been heavily linked with the 29-year-old, who spent last season on loan at Marseille, featuring on 23 occasions in all competitions for the French side, including 17 outings in Ligue 1.
However, according to Sky Sports News reporter Dharmesh Sheth, the Saudi Arabian side's alleged agreement for Laporte means that a switch for Bailly is now unlikely.

Chelsea considering approach for goalkeeper Petrovic?
Chelsea have reportedly identified New England Revolution goalkeeper Djordje Petrovic as a potential transfer target.
Earlier this summer, the Blues secured the signing of Brighton & Hove Albion stopper Robert Sanchez, who was expected to act as deputy to Kepa Arrizabalaga.
However, an injury to Real Madrid number one Thibaut Courtois has resulted in Los Blancos acquiring Arrziabalaga's services on a season-long loan deal.
Arrizabalaga has acknowledged that he is hoping to complete a permanent switch to the Santiago Bernabeu, effectively leaving Chelsea to consider a full-time replacement.

Sheffield United sign Tom Davies on free transfer
"I'm made up to be here and can't wait to get started," Davies told the official Sheffield United website. "It was time for me to go from the previous club to join Sheffield United and I'm really excited for it, I think it is a great project that the team have here and I'm full of enthusiasm and hunger to get going.
"The Premier League is the best league in the world so when Sheffield United came knocking I thought this was the place to be, playing against the best teams and the best players.
"I played here (Bramall Lane) twice during Covid, and I think that helped Everton, but I'm looking forward to getting on the pitch in front of the full crowd and showing the fans what I'm about."
Man City 'accept offer from Al-Nassr for Aymeric Laporte'
Manchester City have reportedly accepted an offer from Saudi Pro League club Al-Nassr for defender Aymeric Laporte.
The 29-year-old has spent the last five-and-a-half years at the Etihad Stadium, making 180 appearances in all competitions and winning 12 trophies including five Premier League titles and the Champions League.
Laporte was a member of Pep Guardiola's treble-winning squad last season, but he only featured 20 times in all tournaments and fell behind Ruben Dias, John Stones, Manuel Akanji and Nathan Ake in the pecking order.
The Spain international is now one of three left-footed central defenders at Man City along with Ake and big-money summer arrival Josko Gvardiol, and has been tipped to depart the Etihad in search of regular game time.

Paris Saint-Germain midfielder Renato Sanches has joined Roma on loan for the 2023-24 season with an obligation to buy under certain conditions.
The Portugal international leaves the Parc des Princes following an unsuccessful debut season under Christophe Galtier, who previously coached him during their time at Lille.
Sanches was a 2020-21 Ligue 1 title winner with Les Dogues, but his career has been blighted by injuries, and he scored two goals in 27 matches for PSG last term.
Sanches started a mere six games in the French top flight and just one in the Champions League, though, as he found himself below Marco Verratti, Vitinha and Fabian Ruiz in the midfield pecking order.

A total of 14 goals and 13 assists have come from 107 appearances in all competitions, but Ziyech has tried and failed to leave Chelsea on two occasions in 2023.

Brentford sign ex-Tottenham Hotspur youngster Riley Owen

"We feel that he can be really beneficial to our group moving forward and we can improve him with the defensive aspects of his game. He handles the ball brilliantly in the middle of the pitch. He will look to build up the play and continue to try and make things happen no matter how a game is going. He's a player we're really happy to add to the group."
Man United 'unlikely to sign Pavard due to Maguire situation'
Manchester United are reportedly now unlikely to sign Bayern Munich defender Benjamin Pavard this summer due to the recent developments surrounding Harry Maguire.
The Red Devils accepted a £30m offer from West Ham United for Maguire last week, with the England international seemingly preparing to leave Old Trafford.
However, it is understood that a potential move to West Ham has now broken down, with the 30-year-old set to stay in Manchester this summer despite the widespread speculation surrounding his future.
