Tottenham Hotspur twice came from behind to draw 2-2 with Manchester United in Sunday's entertaining Premier League clash at Old Trafford.

Rasmus Hojlund sent the Red Devils ahead with a fierce strike in the third minute of the clash, before Tottenham levelled in the 19th minute through a header from Richarlison.

Man United were back ahead in the 40th minute courtesy of a smart finish from Marcus Rashford, but Rodrigo Bentancur made it 2-2 in the 46th minute, and neither side could find another in Manchester, with the points being shared.

The point is enough to move Erik ten Hag's side into seventh spot in the table, eight points behind Tottenham, with Ange Postecoglou's side staying fifth in England's top flight, now level on points (40) with Arsenal.

Incoming Man United minority shareholder Sir Jim Ratcliffe spoke to the media ahead of the clash before taking his seat in the stands at Old Trafford alongside the club's legendary head coach Sir Alex Ferguson.

Ratcliffe would not have been sitting for long before Man United made the breakthrough, and it was a wonderful strike from Hojlund in the third minute, with the 20-year-old smashing into the roof of the net after the ball had broken for him following work from Rashford inside the penalty box.

The Red Devils continued to work the space in the forward areas, with Alejandro Garnacho and Rashford causing all sorts of problems with their pace and movement.

Rashford placed a Christian Eriksen corner just wide of the post in the eighth minute, before Red Devils goalkeeper Andre Onana kept out a deflected Pedro Porro strike one minute later, with Spurs registering their first attempt on target.

Tottenham came close to levelling in the 11th minute through debutant Timo Werner, with his header from a cross deflected just wide of the post by the jumping Jonny Evans, before Diogo Dalot cleared a headed effort from Bentancur off the line from the resulting corner during a lively start.

Spurs levelled the scores in the 19th minute of the clash through Richarlison, with the Brazil international hearing a corner from Porro into the back of the net.

Werner was next to try his luck, curling over the crossbar from distance, and Spurs were much the better side after a shaky start, with the visitors in control of the midfield battle.

Onana denied Brennan Johnson in the 30th minute, with the North London club carrying the bigger threat in the final third of the field, before Garnacho wanted penalty in a challenge with Destiny Udogie, but the referee was not interested and VAR agreed.

Udogie headed a cross from Rashford against his own post in the 38th minute, with Man United coming close to what would have been a bizarre second.

Rashford sent the Red Devils back ahead in the 40th minute of the clash, and it was another excellent finish, as the England international placed the ball into the bottom corner after combining with Hojlund.

Werner had a chance to make it 2-2 on the counter-attack in the 45th minute, but the Germany international, who has joined the club on loan from RB Leipzig, fired his effort just wide of the far post.

Spurs came even closer in first-half stoppage time, with Cristian Romero smashing a header off the crossbar from close range, and a very entertaining opening 45 minutes of action finished with Man United leading 2-1 courtesy of goals from Hojlund and Rashford.

Tottenham levelled the scores less than a minute into the second period, with Bentancur firing the ball into back of the net after collecting a pass from Werner; Onana was seemingly expecting a low strike, but it flashed past the goalkeeper and into the back of the net.

Onana got down low to keep out a shot from Richarlison in the 52nd minute, with Man United making a poor start to the second period at Old Trafford.

Werner had a chance again in the 58th minute, hooking over the crossbar from a corner, and the domination from the visitors led to Scott McTominay being introduced, with the Scotland international coming on for Eriksen.

McTominay fired one just wide of the far post in the 62nd minute, before Lisandro Martinez made his return following a second foot operation, with the Argentina international coming on for Evans, making his first appearance since September in the process.

Oliver Skipp had a strike deflected wide of the Man United goal in the 69th minute, with Spurs putting an impressive number of corners on the board, but the Red Devils managed to resist the danger again, and the two teams were level heading into the final 20 minutes.

Bruno Fernandes had a free kick deflected away from goal in the 86th minute, with Man United showing improvement, but Tottenham continued to look dangerous on the transition.

Antony was introduced for Rashford in the 88th minute, and there were five additional minutes signalled at the end of the contest, with both sides looking for a winner; McTominay should have made it 3-2 in the final seconds when he had a close-range header, but the Scot somehow missed the target.

Both teams have next weekend off, with Man United returning to action against either Newport County or Eastleigh in the fourth round of the FA Cup on January 28, while Tottenham will take on Manchester City in the same competition on January 26.
