Paul Ince backs "jealous" Marcus Rashford to quit Manchester United

By , Football League Correspondent | 5d
Paul Ince believes that Marcus Rashford may be "jealous" of some of his young England teammates, as he backs the forward to consider leaving Manchester United.

Former Manchester United midfielder Paul Ince has urged Marcus Rashford to consider leaving the club in January if he is to fulfil his potential.

The England international has endured another stop-start campaign under Jose Mourinho at Old Trafford, starting just five of his side's 12 Premier League matches.

Despite his close ties to boyhood club United, Rashford is now rumoured to be considering a move to European champions Real Madrid at the end of the season.

Ince believes that the time is right for the 21-year-old to move on, whether on loan or permanently, and has suggested that the forward may feel "jealous" of some of his international teammates.

"There are some players out there who are happy to train and not play on a Saturday, but I don't think he's one of those types of players," he told Paddy Power. "If he doesn't want to move permanently, he should be considering a loan move to another English club.

"Because he should be playing every week. He shouldn't be a bit-part player. He's naive at times, but he's got bags of talent and he's still young. He always looks fantastic for England, too. His main issue is that at the minute it's not clear what his best position is.

"He's at the age now where he needs to decide whether he wants to play every so often for United, or all the time for another club. A part of me wonders whether he sees young players like Jadon Sancho, flying at Borussia Dortmund and playing every week, and feels a bit jealous."

Rashford has also been touted as a possible target for Italian giants Juventus.
