'I'd be livid' – Lineker unimpressed by Mourinho reaction to Rashford miss

Marouane Fellaini's late winner spared United's Champions League blushes.

Gary Lineker has criticised Jose Mourinho for showing disgust at Marcus Rashford for missing a chance in Manchester United's 1-0 Champions League victory over Young Boys.

Marouane Fellaini's injury-time winner spared United's blushes and sent them through to the last 16 of the competition.

Until then, it had been a painful night for United, who came within seconds of going three European home games without scoring for the first time.

England striker Rashford wasted a glorious chance in the fifth minute, chipping over the Young Boys crossbar when clean through.

Mourinho showed his disapproval on the touchline by turning to his backroom staff and shaking his head.

Presenter Lineker was unimpressed with the Portuguese's reaction and said on BT Sport 2: "As a centre-forward, if I saw my manager react like that I'd be absolutely livid."

He later tweeted: "Turn to the crowd and your own bench and shake your head in disgust at one of your own players, let alone a youngster. You just don't do that as a coach."

Group H whipping boys Young Boys had only collected one point from their previous four games, but the Swiss visitors were possibly denied a famous victory by David De Gea's outstanding late save with the score 0-0.

Former Manchester United midfielder Paul Scholes said of his old club: "I thought they were awful, terrible, second half especially.

"If they play against a half-decent team there they get beat.

"It reminded me very much of the Seville game last year. They huffed and puffed and quality was really lacking in every area of the pitch.

"I feel sorry for Young Boys, they were excellent second half, and if they had a little bit of quality about them they win that game."
