Didier Drogba: 'Jose Mourinho likes Paul Pogba a lot'

Chelsea legend Didier Drogba believes that the fiery relationship between Jose Mourinho and Paul Pogba is due to the Manchester United manager's fondness for his player.

Chelsea legend Didier Drogba has claimed that the difficult relationship between Jose Mourinho and Paul Pogba is due to the Portuguese's fondness of the midfielder.

The Manchester United duo have made headlines in recent weeks due to an alleged fallout between the two which has seen Pogba drop out of first-team contention.

France boss Didier Deschamps believes that the £89m signing "cannot be happy" with his situation at Old Trafford, with Scott McTominay having been preferred by Mourinho in recent matches.

Drogba, who played under Mourinho at Chelsea, spoke to Telefoot about his ex-manager's behaviour and played down any suggestion that the two are not getting along.

"It's been hot between us (Drogba and Mourinho)," the Ivorian said. "But Jose is never going to attack people he does not like.

"He likes Paul a lot. That's why he's given him a lot of responsibilities."

Pogba has made 27 appearances for Man United this season, scoring three goals and registering 10 assists.
