Manchester United head coach Ruben Amorim has said that Matthijs de Ligt and Leny Yoro will both need to be assessed after suffering problems during Thursday's Europa League contest with Rangers at Old Trafford.

De Ligt was replaced at the interval of Man United's 2-1 win, with Harry Maguire entering the field, while Yoro was substituted early in the second period, leading to Diogo Dalot dropping into the back three as Tyrell Malacia was introduced.

Man United looked to be sharing the points with Rangers when Cyriel Dessers came off the bench to cancel out an own goal from Jack Butland, but Bruno Fernandes won it for the Red Devils in the final exchanges.

The victory could have come at a big cost, though, with De Ligt and Yoro both suffering injury problems against the Scottish giants.

"Matthijs De Ligt felt something in his leg, as did Leny Yoro. We can't risk anything. I know we have to win, but we have to show the players that everybody matters," Amorim told TNT Sports after the European contest.

The pair will now need to be assessed before it is determined whether they are available to face Fulham at Craven Cottage in the Premier League on Sunday night.

Should both be ruled out, Maguire and Lisandro Martinez could be joined in the back three by Dalot, with Jonny Evans also currently on the sidelines.

De Ligt, Yoro both suffered injuries in clash with Rangers

Amorim said that his side "played better with the ball" against Rangers, with the Portuguese taking positives from the clash.

"We did well. We played better with the ball. I think we started well and then we lost control of the game because of some bad decisions but the lads did well. We are so near the second goal with so many chances, it's so hard but they recover," he added.

"We are not playing our best but we regrouped from the last game. I know the opponent is different. It wasn't as fast. You can see the connections. I think we need to be more clinical in the right moments because that can help us a lot."

Man United are now fourth in the Europa League table, boasting 15 points from seven matches, which has placed them in an incredibly strong position when it comes to securing an automatic spot in the knockout round of the competition. body check tags ::
