Team News: Alexis Sanchez dropped to Manchester United bench

Jose Mourinho drops Alexis Sanchez to the bench for Manchester United's FA Cup quarter-final with Brighton & Hove Albion.

Jose Mourinho has dropped Alexis Sanchez to the bench for Manchester United's FA Cup quarter-final with Brighton & Hove Albion tonight.

The United boss makes five changes from the side's shock Champions League exit at the hands of Sevilla in midweek, a game in which Sanchez drew particular criticism for his performance.

Romelu Lukaku continues up top, with Juan Mata and Anthony Martial joining Jesse Lingard as replacements for Sanchez and Marcus Rashford, who is also on the bench.

Scott McTominay replaces Marouane Fellaini as holding partner for Nemanja Matic in front of a back four, which sees Luke Shaw replace Ashley Young at left-back.

Eric Bailly and Chris Smalling keep their places in the heart of the defence, with Antonio Valencia on the right, while in between the sticks Sergio Romero comes in for David de Gea.

As for the visitors, Chris Hughton makes five changes from the starting XI that suffered a 2-0 defeat at Everton in the Premier League a week ago.

Solly March and Leonardo Ulloa are expected to play up front tonight, with Glenn Murray starting the encounter among the substitutes.

Pascal Gross, Beram Kayal and Davy Propper are joined in the middle of the park by Jurgen Locadia, with Jose Izquierdo dropping to the bench and Anthony Knockaert missing out through suspension.

Gaetan Bong suffered a thigh injury in the loss at Goodison Park and is replaced at left-back by Markus Suttner, with Ezequiel Schelotto, Shane Duffy and Lewis Dunk completing the backline.

Meanwhile, a change between the posts sees Tim Krul back in for Mathew Ryan, who is rested entirely for the clash.

Manchester United: Romero; Valencia, Bailly, Smalling, Shaw; Matic, McTominay; Mata, Lingard, Martial; Lukaku
Subs: De Gea, Lindelof, Young, Fellaini, Pogba, Sanchez, Rashford

Brighton & Hove Albion: Krul; Schelotto, Duffy, Dunk, Suttner; Gross, Propper, Kayal, Locadia; Ulloa, March
