Daniel James has insisted that Manchester United players are not concerned by the prospect of playing Thursday's Europa League game against AZ Alkmaar on an artificial pitch.

The Dutch side have been forced to relocate to the Kyocera Stadium, home of Den Haag, after a roof at AZ's AFAS Stadion recently collapsed due to strong winds.

Ole Gunnar Solskjaer noted in a press conference that the artificial pitch was "one of the worst" he had ever seen.

Speaking to the club's official website ahead of the game, James said: "All the boys played on them [artificial pitches] growing up.

"It's going to be a different test, obviously, as playing abroad is always hard. It's different to play in the Premier League but it's one we're looking forward to and are going to be ready for.

"I think the surfaces [synthetic and grass] are similar really. It's a bit harder than normal grass but the ball moves the same on it."

Solskjaer will be determined to avoid any further injuries on the plastic surface as United attempt to end a winless streak of seven games away from home against the Eredivisie side.

Paul Pogba has not travelled with the squad, while Anthony Martial, Aaron Wan-Bissaka and Luke Shaw are all still injured as well. body check tags ::
