Manchester City have won the Premier League in each of the last two seasons, picking up a hugely impressive 98 points to finish top of the pile at the end of the 2018-19 campaign.

There is no question that it has been a tough 2019-20 season for Pep Guardiola's side, though, as they trail league leaders Liverpool by a huge 25 points.

It is currently unclear whether the campaign will be allowed to resume, meaning that City, technically, could still be the champions heading into next term if the league is called off altogether.

Despite struggling to reach the heights of last season, a number of individuals have still been in impressive form for the Citizens.

Here, Sports Mole takes a look at the club's most valuable players.

First spot in this particular list was always going to be a big talking point; the position has been handed to Raheem Sterling, but the England international has struggled for form in 2020, failing to score a single Premier League goal since the turn of the year. Kevin De Bruyne is second in the rankings, but the Belgium international, who has 20 assists to his name this term, is arguably the team's most important player.

Leroy Sane and Bernardo Silva have both been handed valuations of £90m, which is a touch surprising. Indeed, Sane's current deal at the Etihad Stadium will expire next summer, while a serious knee injury suffered back in August has seen the Germany international fail to make a single Premier League outing this term.

Aymeric Laporte has also missed a lot of football this season due to a knee problem, but the 25-year-old is down the selection with a valuation of just £67.5m. It is arguable that the centre-back is the team's most important player after De Bruyne, meaning that his placing is somewhat of a surprise.

John Stones, who has fallen out of favour under Guardiola, is also down the list with a valuation of £40.5m, the same as summer arrival Joao Cancelo. David Silva and Fernandinho are also low with valuations of £13.5m and £9m respectively, but both players are 34 and approaching the latter stages of their career.

It is not a surprise that two of the bottom three on this particular list are goalkeepers in the shape of Scott Carson and Claudio Bravo. The lowest-ranked outfield player is Mix Diskerud, who has not made a single first-team appearance for the Citizens since arriving in 2018.

Nicolas Otamendi is also towards the bottom of the selection with a valuation of £16.2m, and it would not be a surprise to see the 32-year-old leave this summer if a new centre-back arrived.

Benjamin Mendy (£31.5m) has also struggled for consistency since making the move to the Etihad Stadium, and the Frenchman is some way behind fellow full-back Kyle Walker (£45m) in terms of valuation.

Sane's high ranking is perhaps the biggest talking point, although it could be argued that the attacker has the potential to become one of the best players in Europe in the coming years.
