Multiple UK broadcasters have joined with their US counterparts in pausing programming today as part of the 'Blackout Tuesday' movement.
The entertainment industry has been showing their support for the #BlackLivesMatter cause following the death last week of George Floyd, a black American man, after a policeman kneeled on his neck for almost nine minutes.
In the US, the ViacomCBS network of channels - including MTV, Comedy Central and BET - are suspending programming for eight minutes and 46 seconds, the time in which Floyd was killed, later today.
Channel 4 has done similar, with its 4Music channel announcing that it is "pausing content on our channel every hour throughout the day" under the banner 'The Show Must Be Paused'.
ViacomCBS's UK channels have followed the lead of their US parent company with their own blackout messages.
