TIMELINE

Sibbald hoping for more than watching brief against St Mirren

The former Falkirk midfielder needed a hernia operation soon after joining the Ladbrokes Premiership newcomers.

Craig Sibbald has been watching and learning as he bides his time for a place in Livingston's starting line-up.

The former Falkirk midfielder needed a hernia operation soon after joining the Ladbrokes Premiership newcomers and has been restricted to two starts for his new club.

But Sibbald earned praise from manager Gary Holt after coming on in the 38th minute of Livingston's 2-0 defeat by Kilmarnock on Wednesday and is in contention to start at home to St Mirren on Saturday.

And the 23-year-old has worked hard to ensure he is up to speed with what is expected of him.

"It started off with an injury but the boys have been doing really well so it's been a struggle to get in the starting XI," he said.

"But I'm just going to keep my head down and try to get in there eventually.

"The manager has said we are going to need everyone in the squad so we have all got to be ready and keep our eyes peeled in training to watch corners and make sure we are involved, because you never know when you will get stuck in.

"It's all about watching and learning because this is obviously a new team for me. You have to take in as much as possible and just try and do everything the gaffer wants you to do."

Holt is not new to Sibbald as the pair worked together at Falkirk.

"It's easy to talk to him and he does talk to me and help me a lot," Sibbald said. "It's just getting that game time now and trying to help the team."
