Kelly's a hero, says Livingston boss Gary Holt

Crucial saves helped Livi to victory.

Livingston manager Gary Holt praised Liam Kelly's concentration levels after his goalkeeper made a crucial contribution to their 2-0 win over Motherwell.

The visitors did not seriously threaten until the 79th minute and 22-year-old Kelly made a brilliant one-handed stop to prevent Barry Maguire volleying home Alex Rodriguez Gorrin's deep cross.

Livi were leading through a Steven Lawless strike midway through the first half and they doubled their lead four minutes after Kelly's save when Craig Halkett headed home.

Holt said: "We had real good control. They have good weapons, the boys up front and the boy (David) Turnbull has hit form. They are a good side and we marshalled them but it took my 'keeper to produce a wonder save at 1-0. It was outstanding.

"For someone so young to do that regularly... The good thing for us is his concentration levels because he didn't have much to do, but he produced a wonder save. And it's testament to him and the boys how much they want a clean sheet.

"He's like a sponge, he wants to learn and improve. He's disappointed in training when he loses a goal. He is disappointed in games when he loses a goal, as the back three or four are whenever they play.

"It really narks them, which is good. We are fortunate we've got boys who will put their body on the line at both ends."

Motherwell manager Stephen Robinson was frustrated that his side lost two goals to set-pieces and failed to get anywhere near the heights of their 3-0 victory over Aberdeen.

"I thought the two players that hit the standards of last week were Mark Gillespie and Alex Gorrin, who was very good when he came on," Robinson said.

"So perhaps he needs a run in the team now. He does both – he's good on the ball and he does the dirty work as well.

"Everybody was below par bar those two players.

"We have shown before we will respond to that but we need to do the free stuff. We are not a good enough side and we are certainly not a side that can pass teams to death, I can assure you of that, without doing the free stuff better than the opposition."
