Paris Saint-Germain 'eye Philippe Coutinho as Kylian Mbappe back-up'

Paris Saint-Germain are reportedly lining up a move for Liverpool midfielder Philippe Coutinho if they fail to entice Kylian Mbappe to the club this summer.

Paris Saint-Germain will reportedly turn their attention to Liverpool midfielder Philippe Coutinho if they miss out on Kylian Mbappe this summer.

The Ligue 1 giants are one of a number of clubs chasing the highly-rated AS Monaco teenager, with the likes of Real Madrid, Manchester United and Manchester City also having been linked with the winger.

PSG are still hopeful of landing Mbappe, but L'Equipe reports that they have lined up Coutinho as their Plan B should they fail in their pursuit.

Coutinho scored a career-best 13 Premier League goals to help Liverpool into the top four last season, and he has since been linked with Barcelona as well as PSG.

The report goes on to say that the French outfit are prepared to pay upwards of £90m to bring Coutinho to the Parc des Princes, with Liverpool thought to be holding out for at least £87m before they consider selling the Brazilian.
