Everton owner Farhad Moshiri has ruled out the potential of sacking Rafael Benitez following the Merseyside derby defeat.

The Toffees were comfortably beaten by Liverpool 4-1 in a result that placed a lot of pressure onto the manager following their difficult spell of results.

Benitez only took charge of Everton from the start of the season, but the owner of the club has now publicly backed the experienced manager.

"Yes. Football is about crisis one day and glory the following day. Rafa is a good manager and underperformance is largely due to the injuries," Moshiri told TalkSPORT.

"Next two weeks, we will get to a full squad and, in the meantime, results will improve. Rafa needs time to have his mark on the squad. He will be supported to add depth to the squad. Managers need time. I have no doubt that we will have a strong second-half to the season."

Everton shall be in action again on Monday when they competed against Arsenal, with the Toffees currently sat 14th in the Premier League table after failing to win in their previous eight matches. body check tags ::
