Claude Puel willing to let certain players leave Leicester this month

By Nick Mashiter, | 5d
Midfielders Iborra, Silva and King could all depart.

Leicester boss Claude Puel will leave out his wantaway players for the Foxes' FA Cup trip to Newport.

The Frenchman is expected to make several changes for Sunday's third-round game at Rodney Parade.

Andy King, Adrien Silva and Danny Simpson could have played having fallen out of favour under Puel in the top flight – with the former omitted from the Premier League squad.

Vicente Iborra may also leave and has also been granted time in Spain with his family and will not feature.

With moves possible in the January transfer window Puel may omit all of them.

He told a press conference: "Perhaps some players will not all be focused on this competition because they think about their futures in this transfer window. I need to take some feeling about them.

"I have to make sure about the players that they have good focus, good concentration in this competition.

"Some players do not have all the focus because in their thoughts, they think about their future in this transfer window period."

King has won League One, the Championship and the Premier League with the Foxes, making 378 appearances after coming through the ranks.

He has not played for the club for a year after being loaned to Swansea 12 months ago, while Iborra has played just 11 times this term and Silva has not featured in the league since August.

"We will see with them. There are clubs interested but we need to keep the balance. Perhaps there will be opportunities for them," said Puel.

"Andy is a fantastic professional, a legend for Leicester City. We have to respect him.

"He wants more game-time, this is a normal thing. I hope we can give the opportunity to move and to enjoy his football."

Wes Morgan is fit after missing the last two games through illness but Daniel Amartey (broken ankle) remains out.

"Wes came back to the training session, he is match fit. He is ready for the game," said Puel.

"We have a squad with players close (in ability) between themselves, we need to use all the possibilities of the squad to maintain the freshness with the possibility to compete all the time.

"We need to find the right balance between quality and freshness."
