Leeds United are reportedly interested in signing Southampton striker Cameron Archer during the summer transfer window.
The former Aston Villa man has attracted interest from a number of Championship sides so far this term, including promotion-chasing Sunderland.
Archer - capable of playing as a central striker or off the left wing - has netted just two goals across 22 Premier League appearances for Southampton during 2024-25.
The forward is not totally to blame for that poor record, with the Saints representing one of the worst top-flight outfits in recent times.
Collecting just nine points from their first 26 matches of the campaign, Ivan Juric's troops are well adrift at the foot of the Premier League table.
Leeds want Southampton star Archer this summer?
According to TEAMtalk, Southampton striker Archer could be saved from the stresses and strains of second-tier football during the 2025-26 campaign.
The report suggests that Premier League-chasing Leeds are keen on securing the permanent services of the 23-year-old in the summer transfer window.
It is believed that Daniel Farke's side wanted to complete a deal for Archer in January, however Southampton were unwilling to sanction the departure of the attacker.
The South-coast strugglers are in a good position to drive a hard bargain for the youngster, who is contracted to the club until the summer of 2028.
Archer is said to be very keen on avoiding a campaign in the Championship next term, after 18 months of proving himself as a valid forward option in the Premier League.
Who else are Leeds in for?
While Leeds are massive admirers of Archer, the Championship leaders are also considering swoops for alternative targets ahead of the summer.
It is understood that the Yorkshire Whites are keeping a close eye on Joshua Sargent, who has enjoyed a productive spell in front of goal for Norwich City of late.
Moving across the English Channel, Nice marksman Evann Guessand is said to be of interest to Leeds, with the Ivorian providing 15 goal contributions this season in Ligue 1.
