Juventus to close part of stadium for one match after racist chants

League leaders Juventus came from behind to beat Serie A rivals Napoli 3-1 on Saturday night.

Juventus must close the Curva Sud section at their Allianz Stadium for one match after being found guilty of “territorial discrimination and racist” chants during Saturday’s win over Napoli.

The Turin club have also been issued with a 10,000 euro (£9,050) fine for the offensive nature of the abuse.

Serie A’s disciplinary panel said in a statement on Tuesday there had been an “evidently racist” chant directed towards Napoli defender Kalidou Koulibaly early in the second half.

Napoli have also been hit with a fine of some 15,000 euros (£13,500) after one of the club’s supporters, who has now been identified, threw a seat into a section of Juventus fans.

League leaders Juventus came from behind to beat their Serie A rivals 3-1 on Saturday night, with Napoli defender Mario Rui shown a red card during the second half and so will now serve a one-match domestic ban.
