Head-to-head record

Previous meetings: 85
Crystal Palace wins: 29
Draws: 24
Ipswich wins: 32

Crystal Palace and Ipswich Town have faced each other a total of 85 times across all competitions and it is the Tractor Boys who marginally lead the overall head-to-head record, as they have won 32 games compared to the Eagles' 29, while 24 draws have been played out between the two clubs.

Their first meeting took place back in January 1939 when Ipswich secured a 2-1 home victory in Division Three (South), although they only won seven of their next 21 league encounters with the Eagles (D9 L5).

Crystal Palace and Ipswich regularly butted heads in the old Divisions One and Two between 1964 and 1989, with the Tractor Boys winning 11 times and Eagles securing eight victories across 26 league meetings.

Prior to that run, the only FA Cup encounter between these two sides took place in January 1958, with Ipswich claiming a slender 1-0 away victory in third round.

In the Premier League, Crystal Palace and Ipswich have faced each other just five times, including their first four meetings in 1992-93 and 1994-95 - the Eagles picked up 10 points across these four matches (W3 D1).

Both teams would then battle it out across 28 games in the second tier and there was little to separate them, with Ipswich winning 11 games to Palace's 10. Ipswich secured memorable 4-3 and 4-1 away victories in October 2003 and January 2009 respectively, while Palace recorded their biggest-ever win over the Tractor Boys to date in November 2012, winning 5-0 at home in the Championship.

The most recent meeting between these two sides took place in March 2025 when Crystal Palace secured slender 1-0 home victory over Ipswich thanks to a second-half strike from Ismaila Sarr.
