Round 24 of the 2023-24 Eredivisie season sees Go Ahead Eagles entertain the challenge of RKC Waalwijk at De Adelaarshorst on Saturday evening.

The hosts head into this one having suffered a first loss in six matches last time out, while their visitors were beaten for the third time in four outings.

Match preview

Go Ahead Eagles were on the receiving end of a 3-0 defeat against FC Twente when the teams went head-to-head at De Grolsch Veste on Sunday.

Rene Hake's men found themselves trailing by two at half time thanks to Sem Steijn's brace after which Joshua Brenet sealed the deal right on the hour mark.

As a result, the pride of the IJssel Kowet have passed up the opportunity to leapfrog Ajax in the Eredivisie table and remain in sixth place.

Coming up next is the task of facing off against an opposing outfit who have been beaten in the most recent two editions of this fixture.

Off the back of just one win in six home matches leading up to Saturday's affair, the hosts will be keen to get themselves back on track in front of their fans.

Waalwijk came away empty-handed from a second game in a row owing to a 1-0 defeat to Fortuna Sittard at the Mandemakers Stadion on Saturday.

Henk Fraser's men looked set to hold out for a share of the spoils with the scores level heading into the penultimate minute of regulation time in which Kaj Sierhuis struck a late winner.

Having picked up 18 points from their 23 league matches this term, RKC currently sit 16th in the standings, three points adrift of safety.

With eight goals conceded across their last three away games, Saturday's visitors will need to tighten up at the back to avoid a fourth straight defeat on the road.

Team News

Go Ahead Eagles' Philippe Rommens is set to miss a seventh straight game with an ankle problem which he picked up against NEC back in January.

The home side will also be without the services of Twenty-five-year-old Jamal Amofa who remains out of contention due to a muscle problem.

Michiel Kramer made his return to action from a brief injury layoff last time out and the striker will be pushing to lead the line this weekend.

This should see 24-year-old David Min drop to the bench for the visitors, although Waalwijk could consider a change of shape and go with two up front.

Go Ahead Eagles possible starting lineup:
De Lange; Kuipers, Kramer, Nauber, Deijl; Linthorst, Llansana, Blomme; Adekanye, Edvardsen, Willumsson

RKC Waalwijk possible starting lineup:
Vaessen; Meijers, Van den Buijs, Adewoye, Lelieveld; Oukili, Roemeratoe; Lokesa, Niemeijer, Cleonise; Kramer

We say: Go Ahead Eagles 2-0 RKC Waalwijk

Go Ahead Eagles are on a better run of results coming into this one and coupled with the added advantage of playing on home turf, we are backing them to emerge triumphant come the sound of the final whistle.
