New Everton boss Frank Lampard looking to extend 45-year Everton streak

New Everton boss Frank Lampard will be looking to extend a 45-year streak when the Toffees meet Newcastle United in the Premier League on Tuesday evening.

Everton manager Frank Lampard will be attempting to extend a 45-year streak when the Toffees meet Newcastle United in the Premier League on Tuesday evening.

Having been appointed as Rafael Benitez's replacement last week, Lampard witnessed his new team record a 4-1 victory over Brentford in the FA Cup at the weekend.

However, the Englishman is under pressure to deliver in the top flight, particularly in the upcoming double-header against the Magpies and Leeds United.

As his squad prepare for the game at St James' Park, Lampard will also be hoping to avoid becoming the first permanent Everton manager to lose his opening Premier League game in charge for 45 years.

That has not occurred since Gordon Lee suffered defeat in his first game in the Toffees dugout in February 1977, a run spanning 12 matches.

During that period, full-time Everton managers have started their top-flight reign with eight victories and four draws. body check tags ::
