Arsenal suffer Thomas Partey injury blow

Arsenal suffered a blow on Monday evening as Thomas Partey pick up an injury during the closing stages of the 3-0 defeat at Crystal Palace.

Arsenal boss Mikel Arteta has admitted that he is 'concerned' about the injury picked up by Thomas Partey during the closing stages of Monday's Premier League fixture at Crystal Palace.

The Gunners endured a disappointing night at Selhurst Park, a slow start seeing them fall two goals behind before a second-half penalty from Wilfried Zaha condemned them to a 3-0 defeat.

However, Arteta was left further frustrated during the final quarter after Partey needed to be withdrawn with what the Spaniard described as a recurrence of a previous issue.

When questioned about the extent of the problem in his pre-match press conference, Arteta said: "I don't know. He felt something in the same area that he got injured previously, it's a big concern."

A report has also indicated that left-back Kieran Tierney could miss the rest of the season with a knee injury, Arteta acknowledging that he is due to see a specialist on Tuesday.

Defeat for Arsenal leaves the club in fifth position in the Premier League table, only behind Tottenham Hotspur on goal difference and still possessing a game in hand. body check tags ::
