Dennis Wise: 'Danny Rose should face Sweden'

Former England midfielder Dennis Wise calls on Three Lions boss Gareth Southgate to select Danny Rose in the left wing-back position against Sweden.

Former England midfielder Dennis Wise has called on Three Lions boss Gareth Southgate to select Danny Rose in the left wing-back position for Saturday's 2018 World Cup quarter-final with Sweden.

England booked their spot in the last eight of this summer's competition by beating Colombia on penalties.

Wise has said that Southgate should name 10 of the players that started the Colombia clash on Tuesday night, but has called for Ashley Young to be replaced by Rose on the left.

"You've got to look if any of them have injuries. Young is 33-years-old in five days. His recovery time might be longer than the others. Rose came on and did extremely well," Wise told Sky Sports News.

"If there's one player who could take a position up its Rose for Young. If everyone else is fit, I'd keep it the same."

Jamie Vardy is seen as 'doubtful' to face Sweden this weekend after picking up a groin problem during the clash with Colombia.
