David Beckham: 'There are no easy games at World Cup'

Former England captain David Beckham believes that the Three Lions will not have any easy games at the World Cup, despite a seemingly kind draw for Russia 2018.

David Beckham has stressed that England will not have any easy games at the World Cup despite a seemingly kind draw for Russia 2018.

The Three Lions will face Belgium, Tunisia and Panama in Group G of the competition, with Gareth Southgate's side first facing The Eagles of Carthage on June 18.

Although Tunisia and Panama sit 27th and 56th in the FIFA world rankings, former England captain Beckham insists that all three opponents in the group must be treated with respect.

"When you get to a World Cup, whatever team you are drawn against, there are no easy games," the 42-year-old is quoted by Sky Sports News as saying. "I know it is a cliche but it's true.

"When you come up against the teams we are up against now or five or 10 years ago, it doesn't change, every game is a tough game.

"When you reach this stage it's all important. It is a good draw but it is going to be tough."

Iceland were ranked 34th in the world when they beat England in the last 16 of Euro 2016.
