  • Transfer rumours: Solanke to Newcastle, Ngonge to Nottingham Forest, Adams to Wolves

Newcastle United have reportedly made an enquiry about the availability of Bournemouth striker Dominic Solanke.

Eddie Howe has been a long-standing admirer of Solanke and was responsible for bringing the striker to the club during his time at the Vitality Stadium.

The Magpies are currently without the services of England international Callum Wilson, who is expected to remain sidelined until the end of the month with a calf injury, leaving Alexander Isak as the only recognised striker in the first team.

According to The Telegraph, Newcastle are looking to bolster their attacking depth and have made an enquiry about Solanke but have been told by Bournemouth that he will not be sold this month.

Joe Hugill signs new contract at Manchester United

Manchester United have announced that Joe Hugill has signed a new deal with the club until 2026.

The 20-year-old is yet to make his first-team debut for the Red Devils, but he has been in their squad on four occasions this season, including twice in the Champions League.

Hugill was an unused substitute against Wigan Athletic in the FA Cup on Monday evening, and it is believed that he has impressed Man United head coach Erik ten Hag during training sessions.

The forward is widely expected to leave Old Trafford on loan before the end of the January transfer window, but he has signed a new contract with the club, which will run until June 2026 and also include the option of an additional 12 months.

Will Timo Werner prove to be a good signing for Spurs?

Tottenham Hotspur surprised many by swooping for Timo Werner this month, with the striker joining on loan from RB Leipzig on Tuesday.

Still only 27, Werner has experience of the Premier League from his time at Chelsea, which is widely seen as an unsuccessful spell despite him helping the Blues to Champions League glory during his Stamford Bridge stint.

Tottenham have the option to make Werner's loan deal permanent at the end of the season too - a possibility which may well depend on how he performs during the second half of the season.

With Harry Kane now long gone and no direct replacement brought in last summer, Spurs will be expecting the Germany international to add another goal threat to a front line which also includes Son Heung-min, Richarlison and Dejan Kulusevski, amongst others.

River Plate chief confirms Echeverri move to Man City

River Plate sporting director Enzo Francescoli has confirmed that highly-rated midfielder Claudio Echeverri is set to join Manchester City next year.

The treble winners are believed to have struck a deal to sign the 18-year-old for a £21.7m fee, and he will commit his future to Pep Guardiola's side for the next six years.

Echeverri will be following a similar path to Julian Alvarez, who also swapped River Plate for the Etihad but spent another six months on loan with the Argentinian side in the second half of the 2021-22 campaign.

Echeverri's contract with River Plate only runs until the end of the calendar year, leading to anger from fans that the club did not tie the midfielder down to a long-term deal with a hefty release clause.

Tottenham 'to target new midfielder after Dragusin signing'

Tottenham Hotspur reportedly intend to press ahead with plans to sign a new midfielder once Radu Dragusin's arrival from Genoa has been made official.

The 21-year-old's agent has confirmed that Dragusin has snubbed a higher wage offer from German champions Bayern Munich in order to join the Lilywhites, and he flew to London for a medical earlier on Wednesday.

Confirmation of Dragusin's switch to the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium is expected to arrive in the coming hours, and he will become Spurs' second signing of the winter window after RB Leipzig loanee Timo Werner.

Postecoglou made no secret of his desire to bolster his backline in January, having seen both of Cristian Romero and Micky van de Ven sidelined by hamstring problems, sometimes forcing him to deploy a rearguard quartet comprising only full-backs.

Fred Onyedinma returns to Luton after Rotherham loan

"Rotherham United can confirm that Fred Onyedinma has returned to parent club Luton Town after it was mutually agreed by both clubs to end his season-long loan spell at AESSEAL New York," read a statement.

"The 27-year-old joined the Millers in the summer and made 19 appearances in all competitions before an injury sustained in the warm-up at Hull City curtailed his momentum at AESSEAL New York Stadium and has ruled him out of first team action ever since.

"Onyedinma found the net twice in Rotherham United colours in Sky Bet Championship meetings with Blackburn Rovers and Leicester City.

"Everyone at Rotherham United would like to thank Fred for his efforts whilst at Rotherham United and wish him well in his future endeavours, particularly as he continues to recover from his injury."

Liverpool 'in talks to recall Calvin Ramsay from Preston loan'

Liverpool are reportedly in talks with Preston North End over prematurely terminating the loan deal of right-back Calvin Ramsay.

The Reds' defensive injury crisis worsened in their 2-0 FA Cup third-round win over Arsenal at the weekend, where it was revealed that Trent Alexander-Arnold had hyperextended his knee.

Assistant manager Pep Lijnders has confirmed that Alexander-Arnold will be sidelined for "a few weeks", joining fellow full-backs Andrew Robertson (shoulder) and Kostas Tsimikas (collarbone) on the sidelines.

Neither Robertson nor Tsimikas are expected to return to first-team action before February, and their absences have forced Jurgen Klopp to deploy Joe Gomez as an emergency left-back, a role he has taken on well in recent weeks.

"Joining the Whites from Bristol City in the summer of 2016 for a fee of £500k, Luke, or as he is affectionately known, Bill, would go on to become one of the best ever signings in the club's history.

"Now moving to Middlesbrough on loan, he leaves with the very best wishes of everyone at the club.

"Subject to Luke's availability, we hope he will be able to attend our next home match against Preston North End, on Sunday 21st January, in order for supporters to be able to give him a true Leeds United send off.

    "Thanks for everything, Bill."

Middlesbrough manager Michael Carrick said: "We're delighted to bring Luke to the club. He is a player with good experience, he's a promotion winner, and he's played at the highest level.

"He's a terrific character as well and we see him as a great fit for what we have here. He's exactly what we're looking for at the club."

Manchester United 'fail with Pellistri, Hjulmand swap offer'

Manchester United have reportedly had a swap deal involving Facundo Pellistri and Sporting Lisbon's Morten Hjulmand turned down by the Portuguese giants.

Hjulmand, 24, joined Sporting from Lecce last summer, and the midfielder has been in strong form for the Green and Whites this term, featuring 23 times, scoring once and contributing two assists.

Man United are said to be huge admirers of the Denmark international, who is close friends with current Red Devils midfielder Christian Eriksen.

According to The Sun, the 20-time English champions offered Pellistri to Sporting in exchange for Hjulmand, but the Portuguese team made it clear that his release clause of £69m would need to be triggered.

Bayern are believed to view Araujo as their leading target this winter but are prepared to wait until the end of the campaign to sign him if a mid-season transfer cannot be secured.

A recent report claimed that the Bundesliga champions are willing to pay in excess of €70m (£60m) for the Uruguay international in January.

Radu Dragusin agent confirms defender rejected Bayern to join Tottenham

The agent of Genoa centre-back Radu Dragusin has confirmed that the 21-year-old is set to sign for Tottenham Hotspur and admits that he was in disbelief when his client turned down the chance to move to Bayern Munich.

The Romania international is due to touch down in London on Wednesday in order to complete his Tottenham medical, and confirmation of his move to the Premier League could supposedly arrive within a matter of hours.

Dragusin will become Tottenham's second signing of the January window after the Lilywhites poached Timo Werner on loan from RB Leipzig, and Spurs are expected to pay an initial €25m (£21.5m), potentially rising to €30m (£25.8m) with performance-related add-ons.

Tottenham faced competition from Napoli and Bayern Munich for the services of Dragusin, with the German champions doing their best to hijack a move late on Tuesday evening, only to see their advances rejected.

Who is Tottenham Hotspur's new centre-back Radu Dragusin?

Tottenham Hotspur's hastened search for a new centre-back is finally about to bear fruit, as the Lilywhites are on the verge of completing a deal to sign Genoa's Radu Dragusin.

Despite the best efforts of Italian champions Napoli and Bundesliga title-holders Bayern Munich - who failed with a last-minute hijack for the 21-year-old's services - Dragusin's agent has confirmed that the defender has chosen to advance his career in North London.

Dragusin was pictured at an airport in Italy on Wednesday morning as he flies in to complete his €30m (£25.8m) move, which could supposedly be announced within a matter of hours so long as he passes his medical with flying colours.

The Romania international will bolster a backline ravaged by injuries to Micky van de Ven and Cristian Romero over the past couple of months, and he is set to become Spurs' second signing of the January transfer window following the loan capture of Timo Werner from RB Leipzig.

Man United 'have until mid-January to activate Guirassy buy-out fee'

Manchester United reportedly only have until the middle of January to sign in-demand Stuttgart forward Serhou Guirassy in a cut-price deal.

The Red Devils are believed to be considering moving for a new striker this month, with head coach Erik ten Hag refusing to rule out a signing late in the transfer window.

Man United are one of a number of clubs to be credited with an interest in Guirassy, who has scored 19 times and registered two assists in 16 appearances for Stuttgart during the 2023-24 campaign.

There is a €17.5m (£15.1m) release clause in his current contract, but according to Bild, it is only valid until the middle of January.

Man United, Dortmund 'reach agreement over Sancho move'

Manchester United have reportedly given permission for Jadon Sancho to undergo a medical at Borussia Dortmund, with the attacker set to return to his former club on loan.

The Englishman initially represented Dortmund between 2017 and 2021, turning out for the club on 137 occasions in all competitions, scoring 50 goals and registering 64 assists in the process.

The attacker's excellent form led to Man United signing him in the summer of 2021, but a difficult spell at Old Trafford has seen him manage just 12 goals and six assists in 82 appearances.

Sancho has only featured on three occasions for the Red Devils this term, meanwhile, due to a falling-out with head coach Erik ten Hag, and he is now preparing to leave the club, albeit on a temporary basis.

Anthony Martial 'wants to stay at Man United until summer'

Anthony Martial is reportedly not interested in leaving Manchester United during the January transfer window and has already rejected a host of interest in his services.

The Frenchman's contract at Old Trafford is due to expire at the end of June, and the Red Devils have declined the option to activate an additional 12 months on his deal, which would have taken him until June 2025.

Man United are believed to be open to offers for the striker this month, and according to Sky Sports News, Fenerbahce and Marseille have both made their interest known, in addition to clubs from the Saudi Pro League.

However, the report claims that the former Monaco youngster has no desire to leave Old Trafford during the winter market and is planning to finish the season at Old Trafford.

Man United, Dortmund 'discussing final details on Sancho deal'

Manchester United attacker Jadon Sancho is reportedly closing in on a return to Borussia Dortmund on loan.

The 23-year-old has not played for his English club since the end of August due to a falling-out with Red Devils head coach Erik ten Hag, which stemmed from the attacker being left out against Arsenal at the start of September.

Ten Hag said that the England international was not present at the Emirates Stadium due to poor performances in training, but Sancho insisted that was not the case in a post on social media, claiming that he had been made "a scapegoat" by his manager.

Sancho has not been involved in the first-team environment at the club for some time, and he is now seemingly preparing to return to Dortmund on loan for the second half of the campaign.

Liverpool confirm Fabio Carvalho loan to Hull City

Liverpool have confirmed that Portuguese attacker Fabio Carvalho has completed a loan move to Hull City for the remainder of the 2023-24 campaign.

The 21-year-old drops back down to the Championship following an unsuccessful stint with German giants RB Leipzig, who agreed to terminate his loan earlier this month.

Carvalho returned to Anfield having failed to register a single goal or assist in 15 matches for Leipzig in all competitions, but he was still the subject of interest from numerous English clubs.

Fulham - who sold Carvalho to Liverpool for £7.7m in 2022 - were believed to have been keen to bring him back to Craven Cottage, while Wolverhampton Wanderers, Leicester City, Southampton and Leeds United were also linked with a swoop.

"Lembikisa managed one goal whilst at AESSEAL New York Stadium which arguably marked the highlight of his loan stint at the club and came in the form of a rocket of a strike in the 2-1 win over Norwich City.

Barcelona coaching staff 'having doubts over permanent Felix deal'

Joao Felix's disappointing run of form for Barcelona has reportedly led to coaching staff at Camp Nou considering their stance when it comes to the Portugal international.

The 24-year-old joined Barcelona on loan from Atletico Madrid in the closing stages of the summer transfer window, and he has been a regular for Xavi's side this season, making 22 appearances.

Felix has scored six goals and registered three assists for his loan club, but he was substituted at the interval of the team's 3-2 win over Almeria in La Liga before the winter break, before being left out of the starting side against Las Palmas in the league last time out.

The Portuguese was back in the XI against Barbastro in the Copa del Rey on Sunday, but he struggled to make his mark and was withdrawn in the 72nd minute.

Ajax 'join race to sign Jordan Henderson in January'

Ajax have reportedly identified Al Ettifaq midfielder Jordan Henderson as a potential January transfer target.

During the summer, Henderson made the controversial decision to end his legendary stint with Liverpool in order to move to the Saudi Pro League.

At the time, the England international - who had previously spoken publicly about his support for the LGBT community - said that he wanted to help 'grow the game' in the Middle East.

In signing a three-year contract with Al Ettifaq, the 33-year-old seemingly committed the next phase of his career to participating in that part of the world, and he has gone on to make 19 appearances in all competitions.

Batshuayi's contract is due to expire in June, though, and there is currently speculation surrounding his future, with a number of clubs believed to be interested in his signature.

According to The Sun, Rangers are currently in talks with the Belgium international, who has been identified as the Scottish outfit's number one target in the final third of the field.

Spurs 'beat Bayern in race to sign Dragusin'

Tottenham Hotspur have reportedly won the race to secure the signing of Genoa defender Radu Dragusin.

With the lack of depth in central defence exposed in a match against Chelsea in November, head coach Ange Postecoglou has been focused on acquiring a new player for that role in January.

Despite links with Nice's Jean-Clair Todibo, it quickly became apparent that Spurs had set their sights on acquiring the services of Dragusin.

Although he only moved to Genoa in the summer, the Romania international's stock has risen considerably, putting him in the sights of bigger clubs.

Cole Palmer: 'I never wanted permanent Man City exit'

Chelsea midfielder Cole Palmer has admitted that he spent the majority of the summer transfer window wanting to remain at Manchester City.

From 2010 onwards, the playmaker was part of the academy system at the Etihad Stadium and ultimately made the progression into the senior ranks.

A total of 41 appearances were made in all competitions, with six goals and two assists being contributed, and the expectation was that Palmer would act as a seamless replacement for Riyad Mahrez.

However, despite scoring a wonder goal in the Community Shield against Arsenal and an effort in the UEFA Super Cup versus Sevilla, Palmer was surprisingly sold by City towards the back end of August.
