Report: Barcelona keen on Chelsea defender Andreas Christensen

By , Football League Correspondent | 5d
Barcelona have turned to Chelsea's Andreas Christensen in their search for a new central defender, according to a report.

Out-of-favour Chelsea defender Andreas Christensen has emerged as a rumoured transfer target for Spanish champions Barcelona.

All seven of the Denmark international's appearances under Maurizio Sarri have come in cup competitions, having slipped behind David Luiz, Antonio Rudiger and Gary Cahill in the pecking order.

Christensen has admitted that he is unhappy with his situation at Chelsea, leading to talk of a January switch to AC Milan.
The Sun reports that Barcelona have also showed an interest in the 22-year-old, as they are in need of central-defensive cover for the second half of the season.

Samuel Umtiti has featured just once since September and could be facing another spell on the sidelines after his knee injury flared up after the 1-1 draw with Atletico Madrid.
That has left Barcelona with limited options at the back, with Clement Lenglet and Thomas Vermaelen their only options to partner Gerard Pique, but Ernesto Valverde may now be given funds to bring in Christensen in January.
