How Liverpool could line up against Chelsea

Sports Mole looks at how Liverpool may line up against Chelsea in Saturday's huge Premier League clash at Stamford Bridge.

Liverpool will be aiming to maintain their perfect start to the Premier League season when they head to Stamford Bridge to take on Chelsea this Saturday.

The Reds have won six from six in the top flight to sit at the top of the division, but they exited the EFL Cup in midweek with defeat to this weekend's opponents.

Numerous changes are expected from the side that started at Anfield on Wednesday night, however, with Jurgen Klopp prioritising his side's title charge.

Ahead of the second showdown between the sides in the space of three days, Sports Mole looks at how Liverpool could line up.

Doubtful: Divock Origi (ankle)

Klopp made eight changes to his starting lineup for the EFL Cup loss to Chelsea, retaining only Joel Matip, Xherdan Shaqiri and Sadio Mane from the 3-0 win over Southampton.

Shaqiri was hauled off at half time against the Saints, though, with Klopp keen to add more steel in midfield, and the Swiss is expected to drop out for the trip to Stamford Bridge.

James Milner was introduced in Shaqiri's place last weekend and seems the most likely to come back into the fold for this huge showdown, while Jordan Henderson started and finished that match.

Klopp is blessed with plenty of midfield depth, with Georginio Wijnaldum, Naby Keita and now Brazilian ace Fabinho all in contention, but it is the first of that trio who is favourite to get the nod on Saturday, having started all six league games so far.

The front three picks itself these days, meanwhile, so Roberto Firmino and Mohamed Salah will be recalled alongside Mane, leaving just one other call for Klopp to make.

Joel Matip made the most of his recall to the side against Southampton by scoring a key goal and keeping the opposition out, but Joe Gomez has been impressive throughout the early weeks of the season and should slot back in alongside the fit-again Virgil van Dijk.
