Round 28 of the 2021-22 Eredivisie season concludes with Cambuur welcoming NEC to the Cambuur Stadion on Sunday.

This weekend's meeting between the teams is the third this season, with the previous two encounters yielding a win apiece for either side.

Match preview

Cambuur suffered a third straight defeat as they were beaten 3-0 by Go Ahead Eagles on March 19 when the teams faced off.

Goals from Joris Kramer, Luuk Brouwers and Mats Deijl put Henk de Jong's men to the sword at De Adelaarshorst.

The Yellow-Blues remain ninth in the league standings, but a couple of sides in and around are beginning to bear down on them in the race for the last top-half spot.

Their next task comes against an opposing outfit who suffered a 3-2 defeat in the reverse fixture, although NEC did come out on top in a KNVB-Beker round of 32 clash.

Sunday's hosts have conceded the most goals on their own patch this term with their last clean sheet in a competitive home game coming back in August.

Twenty-year-old Maxim Gullit is ruled out with a knee problem, while Roberts Uldrikis misses out through a leg injury.

Sonny Stevens has sat out the last two games due to a torn muscle and the goalkeeper remains unavailable for Cambuur.

NEC's Edgar Barreto could return to the starting XI for this one after sitting out his side's last outing due to a knock.

Mikkel Duelund and Pedro Ruiz are both expected not to play any part for this weekend's visitors with the latter yet to feature since November.

Rens van Eijden still awaits his first appearance of the season as the Dutchman continues to nurse a long-term knee injury.
