Bournemouth defender Jack Simpson signs new three-year deal

The 21-year-old is tied to the Cherries until the summer of 2021.

Bournemouth defender Jack Simpson has signed a new three-year contract with the Premier League club.

The 21-year-old centre-back became the first academy graduate to start a top-flight game for the Cherries after playing away to Manchester City last December.

He has made seven appearances in all competitions for Eddie Howe's side, scoring on his debut in the Carabao Cup tie with Middlesbrough in October 2017.

"At the start of September they told me they wanted to give me an extension on what I already had, I was delighted about that," Simpson told the club's website.

"Now we've been through the process of getting it sorted and signed and I'm very happy to have signed another new contract.

"It's great that the management believe in me and it's great to have the opportunity to play here."

Weymouth-born Simpson joined the south-coast club at the age of eight.

He has made three Carabao Cup appearances this season, helping Bournemouth reach the quarter-finals of the competition.
