Arsenal are reportedly prepared to make contact with the representatives of Club Brugge left-back Maxim De Cuyper.
The Gunners currently have a number of left-back options in their squad, although a couple of those players could depart in the summer transfer window.
Kieran Tierney will return to Scottish Premiership leaders Celtic when his contract expires in the summer, while Oleksandr Zinchenko may also depart after struggling for regular game time this season.
That would still leave Mikel Arteta with Myles Lewis-Skelly, Jurrien Timber, Riccardo Calafiori and Takehiro Tomiyasu as candidates to play on the left side of defence, although there may be some doubt about whether Arsenal can rely on the latter due to his ongoing injury issues.
It appears that Arsenal are still open to recruiting a new left-back after it was reported in December that they were one of a number of Premier League clubs interested in De Cuyper.
Arsenal ready to make contact with De Cuyper
According to TuttoSport, via PianetaMilan, Arsenal are preparing to step up their interest in the Belgium international.
The report states that the Gunners are preparing to make contact with De Cuyper's representatives this week over a potential move.
Arsenal are facing intense competition for the full-back's services, especially from Italian giants AC Milan.
The Rossoneri hold serious interest in De Cuyper and have already held positive talks with his entourage over a possible transfer to the San Siro.
De Cuyper, who is under contract until June 2028, is also said to be attracting interest from Juventus and West Ham United ahead of the summer transfer window.
Who is Maxim De Cuyper?
De Cuyper began his career in Club Brugge's academy system, before making his senior debut in a Europa League game against Manchester United in February 2020.
The Belgian has gone on to make 98 competitive appearances for the first season, contributing six goals and 21 assists.
De Cuyper has been a regular feature in Nicky Hayen's side this season, having started 35 of his 38 appearances in all competitions, including starts in all 10 of Club Brugge's Champions League matches this term.
The defender will have another chance to impress on the European stage when Club Brugge face Aston Villa in the Champions League last 16 next month. body check tags ::
