Manchester City boss Pep Guardiola has tipped Arsenal manager Mikel Arteta to turn the Gunners' fortunes around after they lost their opening three Premier League games.

The English champions were triumphant against Arsenal at the Etihad on Saturday, producing a dominant display by putting five past Bernd Leno.

That result means that Arsenal are rooted to the bottom of the Premier League table, having not managed to score a goal in their games against Brentford, Chelsea and Man City.

However, Guardiola has backed his former assistant to turn things around for Arsenal, telling reporters: "I don't have any doubts. He is so strong, he will recover, he will analyse and I am pretty sure he will be back on track.

"We know in our jobs, especially in the big clubs like Arsenal or Manchester City, always when you don't win there are rumours. I am not talking about a friend, I am talking about a professional and when I was working alongside him I learned.

"He helped us a lot. He helped me a lot to achieve what we did together and I learned a lot. I feel that he taught me many things that we can use right now. What we are now as Man City as a team, it's thanks to him for the job he has done.

"But we cannot forget he is playing with five or six players injured - Thomas Partey, Ben White and many of them. When that happens it is more and more difficult to settle. The start is difficult when you face Chelsea, the best team in Europe because they were champions, and then [you face] the last champions of the Premier League. It is not easy."

Arsenal will continue their Premier League season against Norwich City after the international break. body check tags ::
